Working with a DCS Recruiter

- Jeff Cunio, Technical Recruiter

Working with a recruiter is a great way to find openings not listed on traditional job boards. As a recruiter, I have access to jobs throughout the U.S. that may be a perfect fit.

Here are a few tips on how to work best with a DCS Recruiter!

Be Honest – View your recruiter as a career resource and a trusted advisor. We ask that you are honest about your qualifications and experience.

Don’t Be Afraid to Say “No” – If you feel the position is not a good fit, tell the recruiter as soon as possible. It’s better to wait for the next opportunity than to have you and our client dissatisfied.

Keep Communication Open – When trying to place candidates, timing is critical. Provide multiple ways of contacting you, so when the next great opportunity opens up, you’ll be the first call!

Be Prepared – Before we present a candidate to our clients, we need your resume, three references, and a chance to walk through your background with you.

Be Ready – Great opportunities can open and close in a matter of hours. Keep your resume updated, and be ready for an interview on short notice.

Be Committed – Lack of commitment can negatively impact candidate-recruiter and candidate-client relationships. Make sure to follow through with agreements.

Be Patient – Recruiters recognize the stress associated with finding a new job. Unfortunately, locating the ideal situation, company, and compensation can take time. Remember that we have your best interests in mind, as your success is our success.
